About US

My photo
This the story of our journey, Into Something Good, going Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and trying to Hold Onto Our Dreams. How we got on the way to becoming HALF time RVers! Our Ford 350 super duty diesel truck is our horses, we call it the Beast . Our 2008 34'7" 3 slide Cedar Creek Silverback fifth wheel is our Prairie Schooner Wagon,we call it the Bear. Just like the first RVers, the Pioneers of Yesteryear traveling around the country searching for a rich full filling life! Come along with us for the ride and read about our triumphs and mishaps along the way! About to be Part time RVers in a Cedar Creek Silverback 2008, 34'7", 3 slide 5th wheel, which is our Prairie Schooner Wagon, and a 2006 Ford 350 super duty 1 ton diesel truck is our horses, or oxen, only we have to feed it diesel instead of grass, and oats, which costs a lot more! Retired Air Force empty nesters off to see the good ole USA! Favorite Quote: "Life is a Blank Canvas, Made For Me to Add the Colors" Goal: I am trying to add as many colors as I can to my life!

Shopping

Wednesday:
On Wednesday we went to Sam's. We were out of all the things that I buy in bulk, and needed to replace them. We spent quite a bit of time in Sam's. Mike found some nice towels and wash cloths for the fiver. I thought we got out of Sam's pretty cheaply. We don't go very often, and I love the big containers of spices, so I usually stock up on them when I go. I have small jars that I can put in the 5er, so I have spices, but it doesn't take up as much space as the huge jars. It also leaves spices at home for Gary to use when he cooks too. Since Sam's and Walmart are right beside each other, we also ended up there. All of the flowers on the outside patio were calling my name! I was "just looking" when all of a sudden I found myself with 6 hyacinth in my cart! How did that happen? I made a hasty retreat, because I could hear the pansy's calling my name too!! Man, buying spring flowers is going to be a hard habit to break! At least the hyacinth are bulbs, so I can replant them.

Thursday, Today:
Mike had to go to the base (WPAFB) for his prescription, so I had him drop me off at my favorite thrift store. I knew that would give me time to walk through and look at things without being rushed. I found a few things I liked, and enjoyed being able to just walk around looking to my hearts content. See for me it's not about buying things, but I can look for hours, and enjoy it if I'm allowed to. Mike hates walking around a thrift store, or going to garage sales with me. He says I take forever, and most of the time I don't buy anything, so it's a waste of time! I like looking at all the things, that Mike calls "junk". All the old furniture, and kitchen things, and nick knacks inspire me , and I enjoy imagining what I would do with them if I had them.

Informational Tidbit:
By the way, did you know that the hyacinth is part of the lilac family? They smell very similar too! Lilacs are my very favorite flower! Years ago, several hundred as a matter of fact, lilacs were called "blue pipes". I remember reading this in a book about Scotland and Ireland, but I can't remember which country they orriginated in. Like I said, lilacs have been my favorite flower, since I was old enough to have a favorite. I can't tell you how many perfect bunches that I pressed in books. I cannot wait until the lilacs are blooming, I will be filling my house and the fiver with vases of them, so I can smell them all the time! Funny how a flower that blooms such a short time, can have such an effect on me! Must be the romantic in me coming out!

RELAXING DAY & NEW PLANS

Relaxed:
Today we got back in our routine. I am still working on all those dishes! The dogs and birds have settled down, and Mike cleaned all the bird's cages today.

Plans:
We're already planing our next trip! Still here in Ohio, but will be a fun time. It is a park close to Columbus, and I'm going to a concert too. Should be a fun weekend, with a concert and going to a real campground too. So needless to say I can't wait for the 26th of April. We're also making plans to go to Pennsylvania in July. We want to go to Hershey Park, they have a campground, and then to Lancaster,Pa. I have been wanting to see the Amish country there for a long time.

House:
I have to get started on taking all my nick nacks down off the walls and storing them in boxes in the garage. I have way too much stuff to take down. We'll need to get some boxes, so I can pack all the stuff I want to store, and separate the things I want to sell at my garage sale in May. I still have many items from the days that I did daycare, so those too I want to sell. So many things to decide, and do! It boggles my mind. I really do need to get started doing all the things I have been putting off.

HOME!!!!

Home:
We're finally home! We were really glad we waited an extra day to come home. The sun was out today, and we had a good uneventful 2 hour drive home. Mike again got the fiver in the drive way, for those of you who are keeping score! Our flowers are coming up, and our forsythia's are blooming like crazy! They're a really bright yellow, even more brilliant than usual. What a difference a week & 1/2 makes! We have day lilies up about an inch & 1/2, and the tulips are ready to bloom. It is still kinda cold here, and after yesterday's All Points Bulletin on Spring, it's still missing!

House:
My house is trashed! There are 2 sinks full of dishes in the kitchen, and enough dog hair laying on the floor to make another DOG! I have already told our Son if I come home again, and it looks like this, we'll just stay in the fiver, in the drive way, until it's cleaned up again. I'll clean it up this time, BUT it is the last time!

Dogs:
The dogs were overjoyed to see us again, and now Dutchess is back to following me all over the house. When I get up, so does she! The next time we go somewhere, I will take her, and see how she does. I know I'll never be able to leave here for more than 2 weeks. So she'll have to be a good traveler.

Birds:
When I walked in the door today the birds all said "Hi" about 20 times and Jake (yellow nape amazon) said "Hi Baby, What cha doing" They have been talking lots since we got home.

Life is good! We had alot of fun this past week & 1/2, even if we were only staying in my Brother's drive way! We got comfortable with the fiver systems , and can't wait to take it out again! It was a great and most excellent adventure

Happy Monday Everyone !

A. P. B. ISSUED FOR SPRING!!!!!

Spring :
Spring is MISSING!! Surely, it didn't run off from the lovely state of Ohio! It must have been kidnapped or something! It is a perfect cold, windy, rainy, and winter day here in central Ohio. I sure hope that whoever took Spring will return it to this area soon! Like ASAP!!!! NOW would be even better!!! Haha!

Home Delay:
We have decided to wait a day before going home. It rained all night here in Circleville, and the wind was blowing in gusts of about 20 to 30 mph, so we'll go back home in the morning. We still have a very fine, cold, misty rain falling, so tomorrow will be a better day to travel. Today Mike hooked up to the fiver and turned it around in my brother's driveway, so we would be heading out the right direction, and we'll be ready to roll in the morning. We are still hooked up to the truck, and will leave it on, so we don't have to hook up in the morning. Basically all we have to do is get dressed, and get into the truck and go! I have everything put away except for securing the dining chairs.

First Week in Fiver:
We have now spent a week living in the fiver. We have a list of things we need right away, but for the most part it has been like a fun vacation. We have had all kinds of weather this week, and we have stayed nice and warm. It was an easy switch from the house to the fiver! We didn't miss the other rooms in the house, and we had plenty of space. All the systems have worked perfectly, and have been easy to use. One of the things we have found out is that we need to buy a set of deep pocket sheets for the bed. The mattress topper we bought has made the corners of the sheets pop off when we sleep. Fighting the sheets every night is not my idea of a restful nights sleep! LOL! We have also used a whole tank of propane this week, and are on the second one! Darn cold weather!!!
