About US

My photo
This the story of our journey, Into Something Good, going Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and trying to Hold Onto Our Dreams. How we got on the way to becoming HALF time RVers! Our Ford 350 super duty diesel truck is our horses, we call it the Beast . Our 2008 34'7" 3 slide Cedar Creek Silverback fifth wheel is our Prairie Schooner Wagon,we call it the Bear. Just like the first RVers, the Pioneers of Yesteryear traveling around the country searching for a rich full filling life! Come along with us for the ride and read about our triumphs and mishaps along the way! About to be Part time RVers in a Cedar Creek Silverback 2008, 34'7", 3 slide 5th wheel, which is our Prairie Schooner Wagon, and a 2006 Ford 350 super duty 1 ton diesel truck is our horses, or oxen, only we have to feed it diesel instead of grass, and oats, which costs a lot more! Retired Air Force empty nesters off to see the good ole USA! Favorite Quote: "Life is a Blank Canvas, Made For Me to Add the Colors" Goal: I am trying to add as many colors as I can to my life!

MORE SNOW IS FORECAST !!!

In an email I received this poem, and I thought I'd repeat it here. The author is unknown, so I don't know who to give credit to. I thought it was cute, so here it is:

Ohio Winter Poem

It's winter in Ohio,
And the gentle breezes blow,
Seventy miles an hour,
At twenty-five below!

Oh, how I love Ohio,
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter,
And your nose freezes shut!

Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Ohio,
Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

Ha Ha! This is exactly how I feel, but you can bet, before the snow starts to blow next year, I'll be some place WARM!!!! We are only supposed to get about 12 inches of the white stuff! I really hope this is the last snow of the year, but I doubt it! I know we have gotten snow as late as April 3rd here! This is going to be a good weekend to hibernate, and read a good book or two! I'm so glad we don't have to go out in this mess. So, if I sound a little stir crazy in my blog the next few days, just know that I probably have a good case of cabin fever, and that will explain it all! I did manage to go to the store yesterday, so we will be fine for a couple of days. The snow has already started to drift, because of the wind blowing so hard.

This morning, when I let the dogs out, Hannah went crazy! She loves the snow and she started running with glee! She jumped over our other dog, Dutchess, and rolled in the snow. While Dutchess is like me and doesn't like the snow, it seems to invigorate Hannah! I'm sure the Dog Whisperer, would say that Hannah is in the Red Zone if he could see her! LOL! She loves to roll, run in, and eat the snow! I'm sure my other Son's dog , Sasha does not want to be in either. She is half Malamute, and half Husky. She would stay out all the time when there is snow, but when it's hot she wants to be inside in the air conditioning! So you know, that Hannah and Sasha are going to have a great weekend, while the rest of us freeze!!!

All kinds of business closings, and school closings are on the tv. Even Wright Patterson AFB dismissed early, and that doesn't happen very often! My Grandkids got out of school about two hours early today. They have already had so many closings because of ice this year, that they have to make up three days at the end of the year.

I have heard on the news that, we're not the only ones with bad weather. People all over the country have had storms, tornadoes, snow, and ice. This appears to be a major storm system! I hope everyone stays safe this weekend!

SPRING WAS NICE! HA HA!

Nice Spring!
Well, it was while it lasted! We woke up to a dusting of snow and low temps! At least the dogs had fun playing in the snow! I'm just kidding about spring being here! We had two warm days and it was beautiful, but it was only a tease! I'm still waiting to see my first Robin! Then I'll believe that spring is here! I do have some tulips just starting to peak out of the ground in my flower bed though. So there may be hope yet!

Doctor Visits:
Mike's doctor visits were very good. The staples came out easily and the neurosurgeon was pleased with Mike's progress. He wants to see him again in 2 weeks. I let him drive home as a reward, even though he's really not supposed to be driving yet! He misses driving his truck. Soon he'll have plenty of time to drive his baby around. Mike is getting anxious to do things so, I know he is on the mend now! The only problem with that is, he is not allowed to do anything! Right now is the critical time when the fuse is still fragile, and very easily messed up. Which means I can't even let him bend over, so I will have to watch him like a hawk!

Daylight Saving Time:
Here in Ohio, daylight saving time will begin on March 9th, this Sunday! That seems so early to me! Although, it will be nice for it to be light longer in the
evenings. I always hate it when it gets dark at 5p.m. This year I didn't even put my candle lights in the windows, like I usually do! We just started closing the blinds at dark. It kind of made it feel more cozy in the house that way.

HO HUM, USUAL MONDAY

Ho Hum:
Today I just couldn't seem to get started on anything. I couldn't keep my mind on task for some reason. I don't know if it was boredom, or because it was 65 degrees outside. So in a way I wasted a whole day, by not doing much of anything. I really don't like it when I do things like this. Oh well, this too will pass. Maybe I have Spring Fever! Yeah, that's my story!

Ohio Primary:
Tomorrow is the Ohio Primary. It is supposed to be rainy, with snow showers too. It always seems like when it's time to vote on something, the weather is always yucky here.

Doctor Visits For Mike:
Mike will get his staples out tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the general surgeon, then he has xrays, and then at 3p.m. we see the neurosurgeon, who did the disc surgery. In short it will be a long day at the Wright Patterson Medical Center for us. We plan to have lunch at the Chinese restaurant, The Flying Tiger. It is one of our favorite places to eat. It will also break up our time at the hospital in between the
xrays of his spine, and the neurosurgeon. Then maybe we can get home before the roads get bad.

CLEAN UP DAY

Clean Up:
Since Mike came home from the hospital, I had been neglecting alot of work in the house. Well, it caught up with me today! Everywhere I looked, something needed to be picked up, or cleaned up, so I pushed up my sleeves and waded in. Since Mike is becoming able to do a bit for himself, I had the energy to get some things done! It's amazing how quickly things pile up! Plastic bags from stores, dishes, papers, and bits of everything! Our dogs are shedding alot right now and I think I swept up enough hair to make another dog! In just one week of not dusting, I could have written my name on the fireplace mantle. While I'm not up to doing major spring cleaning, I did manage to get the kitchen back to rights and part of the living room and dining room done! Taking care of someone after major surgery is hard work, with all the fetching and helping them get up, etc... I won't be so tired now, so I should be able to get back on top of everything this week.
I am happy to say Mike is now able to get up out of his recliner by himself, and even dress himself now. Each day his pain has gotten better, and easier for him to manage. While it's not gone, it is at a better level than it was before he had surgery. On Tuesday, we will go to get Mike's staples taken out, so that is a major milestone out of the way, and we're that much closer to to picking up our 5th wheel! Woo Hoo!!!!
It has warmed up a bit here in Ohio, almost a tropical heat wave, a big 45 degrees on the thermometer ! Tomorrow it is supposed to be about 55 degrees, and then on Tuesday it's back to winter again! Guess March is really going to come in like a lamb, at least for a few days!

Remodeling the House:
There are a few things, I would like to redo in our house that we had to put on hold when we found out Mike was going to have more back surgery. We had started a half bath and need to finish that. Then, we want to put wood floor down in the living room and take up the carpet. Then I want to finish refinishing the kitchen cabinets, I only have 3 more left to do and repaint the dining room. After that I want to put ceramic tile in the kitchen, on the counter and on the floor.
WHY? We will still be living here part time, when we're not traveling in the 5er. We plan on taking a short trip once a month until next January. Then we'll go somewhere warm for January, February, and March. This way we will have the best of both worlds, until our Son is ready to take over the house. After that we may turn the garage into a small apartment to use when we are ready to hang up our keys. Then who knows, we may just rent an apartment, only time will tell!!!!
