About US

My photo
This the story of our journey, Into Something Good, going Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and trying to Hold Onto Our Dreams. How we got on the way to becoming HALF time RVers! Our Ford 350 super duty diesel truck is our horses, we call it the Beast . Our 2008 34'7" 3 slide Cedar Creek Silverback fifth wheel is our Prairie Schooner Wagon,we call it the Bear. Just like the first RVers, the Pioneers of Yesteryear traveling around the country searching for a rich full filling life! Come along with us for the ride and read about our triumphs and mishaps along the way! About to be Part time RVers in a Cedar Creek Silverback 2008, 34'7", 3 slide 5th wheel, which is our Prairie Schooner Wagon, and a 2006 Ford 350 super duty 1 ton diesel truck is our horses, or oxen, only we have to feed it diesel instead of grass, and oats, which costs a lot more! Retired Air Force empty nesters off to see the good ole USA! Favorite Quote: "Life is a Blank Canvas, Made For Me to Add the Colors" Goal: I am trying to add as many colors as I can to my life!

IT WILL FIT!!!

Driveway Fit:
It was nice today, so we went outside and measured the driveway. Our driveway measures
41', so our 5er will sit in the drive with a little bit left over! We may not want to leave it sit there all the time, but we will be able to load it with all our "stuff" before we take it somewhere to store, or sit it on a campsite close to us. Right now we can still get the winter rates, so we might do that after we load everything, just for a while anyway. Then again we might just leave it sit in our drive, at least until we go on our first trip in April. There are so many things to consider now that it is almost time for us to pick it up. It always seemed too far away to worry about all the things, we needed to do and buy for it. Now it's no more than 2 weeks away! We are driving down to Cincinnati, Ohio on the 25th of March. We have to be there at 9a.m. So it will be an early morning drive for us, and we are hopeful that the weather will be nice with no snow or rain. It's not often we see the sunrise anymore, although we used to when we worked everyday!

Circleville Again:
This weekend we will visit with our families in Circleville and Chillicothe, Ohio. So I will probably be offline this weekend unless my Mom's dial up is working, and it is almost too slow to mess with! She lives too far out to get high speed internet. My youngest son is already complaining about having to feed the birds, our parrots for 1 night. It makes it nice that he is here when we
are gone, for us anyway! Lol! Oh well, he'll get over it! It will make up for all the times that we have watched his dog for him, of course he has to watch my dog too, and he always complains that she's a bed hog. Our bed is too high for her to jump up on, so it's not a problem for us!

EXCITING NEWS!!!!

My News:
On March 25th, 2008 We will go to get the 5th wheel hitch installed and do the final walk through and learn how to use the systems and all the neat new toys in our new 2008 Cedar Creek Silverback 34'7" 5er!!!!! Gee It seemed like that day was going to take forever! So much has happened since we bought it in January!
February was a rough month for us!

Sad News:
We said so long to one of our Best Friends, Rick who passed away Feb 16th with lung cancer at only 6o years old. So if any of you are smoker's PLEASE QUIT NOW!!!!

Surgery:
Mike had his back fusion surgery on Feb 20th and is now recovering nicely after a bit of a rough start and a scare for me, when they nicked a vein during the surgery.
It was a rough couple of days for us!

Good News:
Now we finally have some good news! It will be nice to see it (5er) again as I've almost forgot what it looked like! I would have completely if we hadn't had a brochure from the dealer.

New Tires:
Mike was able to get the back 4 tires for the truck today! He will go back on Monday and have the 2 front tires put on, because the only had 4 for the back.
So they had to order the other 2.

Homecoming:
So we get to bring the 5er home on the 25th! Wow!!! We're not sure what we'll do with it though. We're not sure if it will fit in our drive way, but now that most of the snow is gone we should be able to get out there and measure it tomorrow! If it doesn't fit we'll have to go to plan B. What plan B is, we don't have a clue! Rest assured we'll come up with something though, we didn't come this far to give up, because it won't fit in our drive! Sitting in our drive would be the best place, as far as loading things, but we will adapt to whatever has to be done!

GOODBYE SNOW

Goodbye Snow:
We now have huge areas of grass showing! I would say we have less than 1/2" of snow left. Most of it has melted, and the yard has gone from pretty to MUD! The dogs are not as clean when they come in from outdoors now. Means I have puppy paw prints all over my floor after they come in. Today was a pretty day with lots of sun, and I got quite a few things done. I even fixed a nice pot roast for dinner, with potatoes and carrots around it. This was after my son, Gary told me yesterday, that I wasn't fulfilling my wifely duties, because I didn't cook last night! Boy, has he got a lot to learn if he is getting married in November! LOL!! I didn't realize that I had raised a male chauvinist ! He didn't get it from his Dad that's for sure!

Replacing Couch or Loveseat:
I think when we get our 5er after awhile we will replace the loveseat in it. The material is so weird! Where do they get the people who pick the colors for the RV's? Every RV we looked at had weird colors! Blacks, oranges, purples , and lime green! It seemed like the people were stuck in the 60's! Our 5er has mostly earth and neutral colors, with some orange and a bit of dark green, but not necessarily
the colors I would have picked. Then again I like country colors, and I am hoping I will get used to the new colors, and it will be something different from home. I wonder how many of you have replaced the couch or redone your RV more to suit your tastes? Did you have a hard time finding something you liked, that would fit through the door of your RV? Lots of things running through my mind as I think about picking up our 5er this month.

MY PLANS OUT THE WINDOW!!!

Today none of the things I had planned went right! The only thing I did was watch Tehya, my Granddaughter. The rest of my plans went out the window! I had a list of things that I wanted from Walmart, and Mike felt like going so he drove us to Walmart. I managed to find all the things on my list, and we came home. After that I spent the rest of the afternoon playing with Tehya. We put a puzzle map of the United States together, and colored pictures in her coloring book. For a 4 year old I think she does really well, she can do the puzzle all by herself, and knows when you put a piece in the wrong place! Not bad for being 4 years old! Then again I may be just a wee bit the proud doting grandma too!

Mike did pretty well driving to Walmart, but got tired of walking after a little bit. He won't ride on one of the electric carts. I wish he would, but he used a cart to walk with instead. I had to use the electric carts when I had my knee replaced.
The only problem I ever had with them was rude people with shopping carts.
Maybe it's a man thing or something! Mike was glad to get back home, sit in his recliner, and get out of his back brace!

I am hopeful that I can get all the things I had planned to do today, done on tomorrow. I hate it when I don't get the things done that I wanted to for the day.
Perhaps, I will have to learn to be more flex-able with our full time life style. I put too much pressure on myself to get everything done I think I need to do. Sometimes I forget that I have more time to do things since I retired.

HAVING A GOOD DAY

I am having a very enjoyable relaxing day today. The roads are clear, and back down to the pavement now. I have nowhere I have to be, and the sun is out. The only thing is when you look outside you get a case of snow blindness, because it's so bright outside. It is really pretty, but I will be so glad when all the snow melts! The cold is what bothers my arthritis, and makes my joints hurt. That's why I'm so anxious for spring to get here!

I think I've accomplished quite a bit today though. I got the bedroom cleaned, I have my kitchen cleaned, I have dinner in the oven, and I'm going to dust this afternoon. I have all my prescription refills ready to call in, and then I can pick them up at the base on Wednesday.

So that leaves cleaning the bathroom, running the sweeper, doing my wash, and cleaning and dusting the dining room for tomorrow morning. Then tomorrow afternoon I get to watch my 4 year old Granddaughter, Tehya. pronounced (Tay-ya) Her name is American Indian and it means precious. My Son and his Wife wanted to honor our Indian heritage when she was born, so that's how she got her name. Her older sister, Autumn has an Indian middle name Rayne(Rain).
Autumn is 6 years old and in the first grade.

So That will leave me the rest of the week to attack my craft and sewing room again. I am going to get more plastic tubs at Walmart tomorrow when we go. This looks like a good place to stop so I will! Lol.
