Today I am taking a break from the hospital. I was over already once today and I will go back in a couple of hours. There is not much going on there with Mike today, so I figured I would give the dogs a break from being locked up in the pantry. Mike is very HAPPY to have finally gotten something to eat this afternoon after almost 7 days! He was starving, at least he thought he was! He managed to walk up and down the hall twice today and I'll get him to go once more when I get back to the hospital. That will make his doctors happy. We're still planning on Wednesday for him to come home, so keep those fingers crossed for us! He can't wait to get home and relax. You know ya can't get any sleep in a hospital! Always someone coming in and doing something to you.
There is still lots of things we need to buy before we pick up the 5er. Then it will be fun deciding how much "stuff" we need to put in the 5er. Right now we only have 2 plastic tubs to be put in, but that doesn't count the dishes, pots and pans, sheets ect... that we need to find places for too. It's a good thing we can order most of the things off the internet when Mike gets home. That way we don't have to go to the stores and tire Mike out until he builds up his strength again.
I'm getting quite used to driving and handling our big truck now! Mike going in the hospital has made me have to drive it more than I did before. So I now feel at ease driving it . That may not be the case when there is a big 35 foot fifth wheel attached to it! I am proud of being able to drive it in the snow and ice and not have any major problems! That was a major accomplishment as far as I am concerned!

MIKE'S SURGERY & RV DREAMS RALLY!!!
Mike's Surgery:
Mike had his back surgery on Wednesday, February 20th. After a small complication, a nicked vein, was fixed, the back fusion went as planned without a hitch. He is recovering and finally out of ICU. The surgeon was able to remove the ruptured disc and replace it with a little metal basket and screws. The basket will allow the bone to grow through it and fuse that section and hold it stable while it is fusing. He will have to wear a back brace for about 3 months, but that is a small sacrifice to make to be able to live without so much pain. In short he is doing well and should be able to come home, maybe by mid- week.
RV Dreams Rally!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!
I am just a wee bit excited about the chance to go to the RV Dreams Rally!
Well we finally got our email from Howard & Linda and we are next in line. I am happy to say we will emailing them back and making reservations for the rally!!! We are so excited to be able to finally meet some of you, and talk to other full time rv'ers! Everyone has been so nice that we have talked to, and feel an instant bond
with all of you. We can't wait to hear your stories! We will be bringing our pet Moluccan Cockatoo, Paco, also! So those of you who have expressed an interest in him can meet him. He is a riot and lots of fun. We are very interested in attending the workshops and learning new things about our 5er and how to better handle it!
It has been so interesting learning about all the new gadgets and things that are be available to the RV'er now! Can't wait to find out more and what we don't know we can't do without yet! haha! We're getting excited to pick up our 5er next month too! I'll stop here and continue on in the next couple of days.

OUR RESERVATION'S BEEN COMFIRMED!!!!!
Reservation:
We made our first reservation for our first "mini" trip in our new 5er!!!! We now have our first campground in sight! Our reservation is for Cedarbrook Campground in Lebonan, Ohio. for a whole week! So we have until the 12th of April to get everything done and bought for the 5er.
Goodbye Dear Friend:
It is with great sorrow that I say that our very best friend in the world has lost his battle with lung cancer. One half of the couple we ran around with, eating out with, camped with for 27 years. So my Saga has one heartbreaking memory to add, and I hope it's the last. My blog will be neglected from time to time until we have said , "See You Down the Road" to him. Best Friends are Forever. So Rick until we meet again......save us a table.

GOOD TRIP/COLD AND WINDY!!
We arrived in Circleville, Ohio on Friday Morning. It was so good to see my Mom and Pop! We hadn't been down since Thanksgiving for one reason or another. So we had alot to catch up on. We mostly sat and talked, and of course we got out the pics of our New Baby! I'm talking about our new Cedar Creek Silverback Fifth Wheel Trailer! They were impressed with our choice and liked the layout of what we could show them in our brochure that we had from our dealer. We are going to take it down and show them after we pick it up in March. Will be our first time pulling it, so a short hour and a half trip would be a good start. We'll have to park at my brother's house, because my parents driveway is pretty steep because they live on a hill.
In fact they have a registered Indian mound, behind their house. When I get some time I will add a picture of their Indian mound on here. It doesn't have Indians buried in it though! It was used as a signal mound, by the Adena Indians to signal another mound about five miles away. Several local Indians from Columbus, Ohio came down and performed a blessing on the Indian Mound, and presented them with a certificate that stated that the Indian mound was used for a signal mound and no sacred ground was disturbed. It's a short, and steep climb up to the top and you can see for miles up there! At the top there is a plaque installed that proves it is original to the property. It is not uncommon in the spring and early may to see a bus load of school children pull up and walk to the top. The Adena Indian Drama Tecumseh is preformed at an outdoor theater just outside of Chillicothe, Ohio Which by the way was the first capital of the state of
Ohio. Well that's enough of a history lesson for today!
I know all of you out there in the warm south west are probably tired of hearing all of us mid-eastern states complaining about how cold and windy this winter has been, but it has been one of the most windy winters I can ever remember! I certainly won't mind not being here next January,February and March! Especially up on the hill where my Mom and Pop live. It really sounded like the wind was going to take the second story right off the house! We drove into the wind all the way home and it is still very windy here near Springfield, Ohio! Gusts up to 40 miles an hour are and have been the norm all weekend! This looks like a good place to stop, so I will!

Quick Trip
OFFLINE THIS WEEKEND:
We get to go to Circleville this weekend so I will be offline this weekend. I will be unable to post here on my blog until after Sunday evening.
THINGS TO GET:
I have been getting some of the things ready for the fiver this week. We have gotten the immersion blender, and I have it,along with a small mixer to put in the box marked 5er. Also in the box is my Paula Deen muffin/egg cooker, a new set of wooden spoons, a hand held can opener. I want to get new dishes, and pots and pans to start out with. This isn't a have to have set of items, but since the decor in the trailer is so different from my house decor (My home decor is pure country with lots of blue, and white gingham, and all sorts of wood and rustic items.) Our trailer is sort of light brown, green, and wine, I have nothing to go with any of those colors. It's not really an earth shattering situation, but would be fun to have things to sort of go along with the fiver. If I can't get new then we will "make do" with the things we already have. I think it will be fun to put our things in the fifth wheel trailer, just like starting over in a new place. Of course with a fifth wheel we have to be concerned with how much weight we add, so we won't be over the limit. We are trying to use things we have that are lighter than full size things, like apartment size small appliances., ect... My box for the fiver is getting fuller and it makes me want it here so I can put things directly into it, instead of boxing them up and then putting them in the trailer after waiting a month!
I will see ya all on Sunday evening after we get home from Circleville, Ohio! Have a good weekend everyone, cos I'm starting mine, ( right now) early!

TIMELINE TAKES A DETOUR!!!!!!
Mike To Have Surgery:
Hubby Mike has another ruptured disc in his back. The only way they can fix it, is to fuse the section. After 3 surgeries and the last one they fused at L5, because the disc had eroded away, and was already gone. The L4 disc is leaking out and causing irritation in the spinal nerves. This one they are going to go ahead and fuse, and add some type of basket, that bone can grow through, so the shell of the disc won't collapse. Since we have been through this once before, with his back and he has an excellent neuro surgeon we know what to expect. So our departure date will make a slight curve by about 4 weeks. We are still hopeful about going to Busch Gardens, but it will depend how long it is before Mike feels like he can drive safely! We knew this was pretty much a done deal, as far as, Mike going to have surgery, so we're not all that upset. All we we're waiting for was a date for the surgery, so on February 20th Mike will have his surgery, and we can then work toward getting back on our time line!
MISCELLANEOUS:
Things are looking up as far as SPRING! I haven't noticed any robins yet, but it may be a bit soon for them. I would give it another 4 weeks and I bet we'll be seeing lot's of them! Plenty of time to finish packing up my craft room , NO, I am not done with it ! It, just keeps getting put off, and maybe I am procrastinating, just a little bit too! The sooner that Mike has his surgery and I am taking care of him the better and the faster we can get back to our plans! I think we'll see if we can find a jigsaw puzzle to work on, after Mike gets home from the hospital. Something to help pass the time while his back is healing, and in between those post surgery doctor appointments!
Weather:
It has been one of those dreary February days here today, still some rain in the area, and mist over all the rivers and small lakes around here. Kind of neat and a good setting for a spooky story or something like that. Just a lazy day here for this retired couple. We are getting anxious to get the hitch installed in the back of our truck so we can then pick up our fiver!!! Is there such a thing as pre- full time hitch itch? Lol!! We won't have the hitch installed before Mike's surgery so we still have some hurry up and wait time! Haha! We are working on getting new tires for the truck before that though! They will have to be ordered and then put on the truck. After that's done we will go and have the inspection on the fiver and learn how to use all our new toys!!(new features on the trailer) After that we get to bring it home for the first time!!!!!!! I'm sure on that day I'll have a big post explaining how all the gadgets work! Happy Tuesday everyone and that brings this post to a close!

5ER INCIDENTALS= MORE CASH OUTLAY!!!!
MORE THINGS WE HAVE TO HAVE:
Before we can even get out of the driveway after we pick up our fifth wheel trailer some more needed things have been brought to my attention by Mike! So here I will make a list so anyone going to full time will not be surprised like I was! LOL! I think I'll buy a lottery ticket!!! Haha!!
Deluxe Blocking System
Front Tri-pod Stabilizer
2 Hoses (1 White for water- 1 green to flush black tank)
Sewer Hose & Extension
Chocks For Wheels
Lynx Levelers
50 Amp to 30 Amp Adapter
Surge Protector
Water Pressure Regulator
Bulls-eye System( for Satellite TV)
Air Card and Router ( for computer internet)
APPROXIMATE TOTAL: Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 (one) Thousand Dollars!
Here I thought we had gotten most of the high cost items! Too bad we don't have a money tree in the back yard!!!!! Might be a good idea for those of you getting ready to make plans to start a savings account for incidentals like this. I'd suggest at least 5 thousand dollars or more! Gee, less comes with the RV than I thought and we sold most of our stuff with our old 5er. I doubt it would still be good now anyway.
We would still be a year away from leaving for the road if we hadn't had the money we got from selling our pontoon boat in January. So it's nice to have an extra cushion to rely on! This total doesn't reflect what we already spent on new tires, travel/on the road insurance and, extra warranty for the 5er and, loan pay off and replacement insurance if something happens. I sure hope we are almost done with the expensive stuff so we can get to the fun stuff soon!!!!!
HAPPIER THOUGHTS:
Have a good Monday everyone! It will be so nice to have spring get here! At least in 6 more weeks!Lol! I am going to have to be as busy as a bee to get everything packed and done by then!
